Born in 1982 in Fukui, Japan. Eijun majored in art at Tokyo University of the Arts. His study centered on aesthetics, and later went on to pursue studying film at the Department of Film Production in Graduate School of Film and New Media within the university. He paid frequent visits to revival houses and cinematheques while he studied about filmmaking and began getting involved in coordinating the film production.

Eijun spent a period of days inactive after finishing the master’s course, and despite having no previous work experience at the cinema at the time, he began working at a new independent film theater “Auditorium Shibuya” which opened in Shibuya, Tokyo in 2011 and became responsible in organizing programs and other miscellaneous duties. He screened works by the contemporary filmmakers and renewed his recognition of the importance of cinemas to films, as well as of the diversity in lineup would bring more liveliness to the theatre. Among the movies he selected to screen in long run are Katsuya Tomita’s “Saudade”(2011), Sho Miyake’s “Playback”(2012), Hitoshi Ohne’s “The Vortex of Love”(2013), Company Matsuo’s “The Sex Cannon Ball Run 2013, THE MOVIE”(2014), and so forth.

Since joining the YCAM staff in April, 2014, Eijun has been responsible for organizing film screening programs such as “YCAM Cinema” and “YCAM Bakuon Film Festival”. In Yamaguchi where he moved to fairly recently, he has been organizing the screenings to provide the audience a deeper insight into the world of films, selecting from works that would suit to the vibes of the region to intense masterpieces which are rare to encounter.
